Pieter Bersee

Pieter Johannes Arthur Bersee was born on the 27th of August 1950.

Pieter grew up in Adelaide and was the eldest of six siblings. Pieter attended Taperoo High School where he took up guitar. Pieter formed ‘Thermal Compression’ with his borthers and some friends including Andy Upton as lead singer.

Andy and Pieter left Thermal Compression and soon Pieter joined Fraternity MK II with Jimmy Barnes on lead vocals. Pieter was a brilliant multi-instrumentalist, playing violin and electric guitar. After Fraternity MKII folded, Pieter was part of the formation of Some Dream with Fraternity members Bruce Howe (Bass), John Freeman (Drums), Mick Jurd (Guitar) and later Stan Korytnyj (Keys and Guitar).

After his time working with members of Fraternity, Pieter was a well sought after performer and worked as a session musician on a number of well known Australian albums.

Pieter went on to become second violinist in in the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and sadly passed away on 22nd November 2008.
